RESORT DESCRIPTION FOR St. Johann in Tirol

The ski resort St. Johann in Tirol/Oberndorf – Harschbichl is located in the Holiday Region St. Johann in Tirol (Austria, Tyrol (Tirol), Tiroler Unterland, Kitzbüheler Alpen). For skiing and snowboarding, there are 43 km of slopes and 1 km of ski routes available. 17 lifts transport the guests. The winter sports area is situated between the elevations of 659 and 1,604 m.

Lifts lead up from three sides to the 1,604 m high Harschbichl, which is the highest point in the ski resort and the starting point for many of the slopes. The gentle slopes of this intermediate level ski resort impress with wide runs and an unbelievably beautiful panorama. The slopes are perfect for relaxed carving and pure sun enjoyment. Fun elements, such as obstacles, kickers and corners are found on the extended funslope – a magical attraction for kids and the young at heart.

Best tips for St. Johann in Tirol

Friendly valley town, an attractive place for beginners and leisurely part-timers – keen piste-bashers will ski all the local slopes in a day and need to go on to explore nearby resorts covered by the Kitzbüheler Alpenskipass as well. There is nothing here to challenge an expert. The main access lift is a 10-minute walk from the centre. It gets more snow than neighbouring Kitzbühel and the SkiWelt, and also has substantial snowmaking. Given good snow, St Johann is one of the best cross-country resorts in Austria – trails total 275km. ‘Some horrid slow lifts, but great for a day out from Kitzbuhel – and it’s included in the All Star pass,’ says a 2014 visitor

  • Convenient slope-side lodging
  • Some quite challenging slopes
  • Excellent children’s nursery slopes
  • Not much of a village
  • Weekend queues
  • Exposed upper mountain
