Alpine Skiing At Cooper Hill, 10th Mountain Division Ski Poster
This 10th Mountain Division soldier is Sergeant Harry W. Poschman, when he was a ski instructor for the Mountain Training Group at Camp Hale. Here he is leading training exercises in alpine skiing at Cooper Hill, CO. The 10th Mountain soldiers needed to ski all types of slopes and all varieties of snow conditions, to handle the Italian Alps during the winter months in WWII. Cooper Hill is by Leadville, CO and not far from their training grounds at Camp Hale.
In Italy Sergeant Harry W. Poschman led a machine-gun squad in the horrendous battles on Monte Della Spe and Mt. Belvedere. We know this information due to the help of his son, Greg Poschman.
