Best tips for Glencoe Mountain

Glencoe’s seven lifts and 20km of runs lie east of moody Glen Coe itself. We get a steady dribble of reports from experienced reporters impressed by the whole deal – ‘A truly wonderful experience,’ says one. A double chairlift and a drag go up to the main slopes, including the nursery area. The black Flypaper is ‘seriously steep’. The cafe at the base serves ‘traditional hearty fare’. The isolated Kings House Hotel is 2km away. The ski area will open a new chairlift for 2017, called the Rannoch Chair. This will run parallel to the Plateau Poma, providing direct access to the Low Road run. There’s a new green run that starts at the top of the Rannoch Chair, called Rankins Return, which takes you further out to skier’s right. The Rannoch Chair will also provide direct access to the blue car park run for when conditions allow you to ski back down.

  • Convenient slope-side lodging
  • Some quite challenging slopes
  • Excellent children’s nursery slopes
  • Not much of a village
  • Weekend queues
  • Exposed upper mountain
