Best tips for Wasserngrat (Gstaad)
Despite its exclusive reputation, an attractive, traditional village where anyone could have a relaxing holiday. Of the four sectors, the largest is above Saanenmöser and Schönried, reached by train. Snow-cover can be unreliable except on the Glacier des Diablerets, 15km away. Few runs challenge experts. Black runs rarely exceed red or even blue difficulty. There is off-piste potential. Given good snow, this is a superb area for intermediates, with long, easy descents in the major area. The nursery slopes at Wispile are adequate, and there are plenty of runs to progress to. Time lost on buses or trains is more of a problem than queues.
- Convenient slope-side lodging
- Some quite challenging slopes
- Excellent children’s nursery slopes
- Not much of a village
- Weekend queues
- Exposed upper mountain
