There are approx 400 ski resorts in the French Alps. France has been host to the Winter Olympics several times, including in 1992 in Albertville, 1968 in Grenoble and 1924 in Chamonix.

Therefor you have to find ski resorts in France

There are many opinions about skiing in France, but one thing is for sure. France is the best for a lunch of wine and baguettes or a good steak steak with fries (Steak Hache).

France is considered to be among the most popular countries among new and incarnate ski resorts, due largely to access to the very large ski areas, so a skiing season never gets boring. On the minus side of France, the fact that the French unfortunately continue to be incredibly difficult to accept scholars from other countries, which almost annually causes conflicts among ski schools and destinations as well as travel agencies who want to offer skil scholars who teach in other languages.

The northern areas close to Switzerland and with easy flight to Geneva airport are, for example, Portes du Soleil with the popular Avoriaz as the most famous city. In southern France there are areas like Isola 2000, located within 100 km of the Mediterranean. You will find several of Europe’s largest and most popular French ski areas in the Alps on the border with Switzerland and Italy. The most famous are:

  • The 3 valleys, with Val Thorens, Les Menuires / St. Martin de Belleville and Courchevel.
  • Espace Killy consisting of Tignes and Val d’Isère
  • Paradisski with Les Arcs, Les Coches and La Plagne
  • Portes du Soleil with the cities of Avoriaz and Morzine

The latter offers on skiing and canoeing in the city’s streets, you have to go skiing in France with children and want to go to one of the big areas; Avoriaz is an excellent suggestion. France may mean a long drive for some destinations and therefore you should consider looking for the northernmost ski areas when you want to drive your own car on a ski trip to France.
